Research and Planning; Location

For the location of our horror film trailer, we have chosen Shanie's Dad's house in Oxfordshire, which is where majority of our filming and camera time will be based. We are using this location because of it's isolated and stereotypically scary setting. This house is surrounded by the countryside and we were influenced by certain horror films to pick this location in our trailer e.g. 'The Hills Have Eyes', 'Mama' and 'The Human Centipede'.

The idea that the house is isolated along with the people that visit and live there, creates suspense and excitement for the audience as it builds up fear relating to the stereotype of being 'helpless' in a horror film, placing the audience in this situation. The house is set in a field which can be used to our advantage staging that the victims in the horror film won't be able to find help, yet the audience don't know this, making them want to see the film and this is an example of viral marketing.
