Mirrors Poster Analysis- Research and Planning

The main immediate attraction is the bold red title, this is what is going to grasp the audience and you can tell that the genre of the film is a horror due to the dark colours used. Red could represent blood and the dark blue doesn't exactly give off happy vibes either. The expression used on each of the characters faces could also suggest the genre because they all look concerned and scared which can also relate to the emotion of the viewers. The USP would be that no horror films have used the example of a reflection as a horror before and this would intrigue the audience more as they would want to see something new. Also, the starring of Kiefer Sutherland, who's name they have put at the top in bold writing to enforce his importance as the main character in the film, is in a lot of big films and has a good reputation which would attract people to want to watch it even more. The fact that it looks like a stereotypical family could be a selling point because it would put the viewers in their shoes as they could assume that this is the family that is affected by the horror of the film.

The font and style of the title is quite daunting, and it looks as if it is looking over the family, and as if they could be haunted by these mirrors. The child looks most vulnerable not just because he is sitting on the floor, and not just because he is the youngest of the three, but because he is interacting with his reflection which could make the viewers wonder what happens in the film and how their reflections would effect their well-being.

The target audience is addressed by the genre of the film not only being stereotyped as a horror, but you could probably assume that the age group to watch this film would be 18+. On the poster, it says 'There is evil on the other side'. So use of the word 'evil' will stage this film as a horror and that would make the target audience adults and couples who want to watch the film for a thrill.
