White House Down Analysis- Research and Planning
The dramatics of the action genre movie is stereotyped in this trailer through sound, mise en scene, and connotations. It begins with immediate explosions and loud bangs and noises, this suggests the danger of the film and what you will be seeing through majority of the film. This also intrigues the audience as they want to find the story behind the action and violence. The sound then dies out to add dramatic effect, the screen also goes black to suggest the noise and violence has been put to a stop, this is then brought back and adds excitement for the audience as they weren't expecting it.
Channing Tatum is the main character in this film and he is stereotyped as the hero through his muscular physique and good looks. This is the sort of factor which would attract the female public and exploit all areas of people to want to watch this film, not just the men who are stereotyped to enjoy and want to watch action films.
The trailer is a constant build up of tension and suspense which creates an exciting atmosphere for the people that are watching it and will also make them want to go and watch the actual film. The explosions and weapons from the trailer will attract male attention and this explains the genre of the film as being an action film. The sound and effects used in this trailer also build excitement and the film has similar producers to other big successful adventure/action films e.g. 2012.
