21 Jump Street Trailer Analysis

The film is immediately stereotyped as a comedy as the opening line is 'Not so slim shady- what's up?' This dialect is appeared as funny and shows that the two characters are familiar with each other and knew each other before they met at the police station applying to be an officer. 'Channing Tatum' is stereotyped as the cool, popular, better looking, dumb and stronger one, whereas the character played by 'Jonah Hill' is stereotyped as the unpopular, overweight and not so cool yet clever and smart character. The next scene shows 'Channing Tatum' fighting and being good at it, but when it comes to the test results, 'Jonah Hill' exceeds the other character by a lot of marks.
The characters end up helping each other through their struggles and end up passing their tests and become police officers as well as best friends.
The actors 'Channing Tatum' and 'Jonah Hill' are both massively well known stars in the film industry and because they are both matched together in this film this would attract various audience and not specifically one group as 'comedy' is one of the few genres which attract a multiple of genders and ages when it comes to watching a film.
They have to go back to school to infultrate the dealers of the drugs and find the supplier, as a drug that is spreading to different schools needs to be stopped. When they go back, there is a twist as 'Channing Tatum' becomes uncool and 'Jonah Hill' becomes the popular one.

The target audience is around the ages 15-24 and this is because of the typical comedy which is stereotyped to be found funny around these ages. The film contains drugs, drinking, teenage parties and fighting, which is another stereotype of the lifestyle around this age group which is why this film would appeal more to this audience.
The camera shots are quite quick as the tempo of the film is fast paced as it is an action film as much as it is a comedy. '21 Jump Street' is a location or an address which doesn't give too much away to the audience from the title but as the '21 Jump Street' is where the main task for the police is set, it's quite an effective title to have as it intrigues the audience.
